Happy summer all you loyal Karate Voice readers! I am honored to be a Board Member and will soon have a link to the Karate Voice on my site.

I was recently awarded a Golden Lifetime Achievement award. I was humbled. Metaphysically it all made sense. I knew my mission after my first fight in the street at five years old in 1955. The western manly Greek method of a stand up headlock submission fighting came out of my subconscious. The submission hold…it can be if you know how to ‘crank’ it just right, worked like a charm.

Greek Mythology always fascinated me. I enjoyed all the Greek and Roman gladiator type movies. I boxed after 1959 almost exclusively. I copied the boxers’ moves in the Friday night Pabst Blue Ribbon sponsored boxing matches on television. I would then go shadow box in the hallways and street. Shadow boxing was a natural high. I saw early that although I was ‘good’ at a variety of ‘sports,’ the main thing I was good at was winning fights I did not necessarily start. I say this later because perhaps everything is a co-creation. These dance like moves converted to real life skill that even the best athletes in school sports lacked. I always wondered why there were wrestling classes in high school but not boxing. I saw in high school the big egos around the mainstream high school sports. No one would have ever guessed that the real deal of sports was all along the heavyweight world-boxing champion.

We know boxing; wrestling, judo and tae kwon do are Olympic events. Can you imagine a Pankration event? The ultimate historically politically correct method of western manly fighting. Close the gap, go toe to toe and win with a stand up punch or a stand-up submission. First one to the floor is the looser. No shucking and jiving or dodging and running. In time it will run full circle. The Greeks had manly fighting down pat. Remember also that the Greeks had warriors the likes of Hercules, the epitome even today of how real men aspire to look like. Even the women still represent that western robustness and brute strength in grace and beauty of the human body.

I met Ali once. He said; "You look like Moses!" His daughter beat Frazier’s daughter by a decision. These are tough girls. It would be a real thriller to see a known martial arts woman champion get to Ali’s daughter’s weight. With enough money to make it worth Ali’s daughter’s time, the world could see if a good martial artist could adapt and win.

It looks as though the new USA heavyweight boxing champion’s desire to bypass a rematch with Lewis will not fly with the powers that be. It should happen. It will be interesting to see fighters take advantage of height and weight regulations at the Heavyweight division. I am training a fighter now who is 6’10 and weights 325 pounds! Nevertheless, if a guy Tyson’s size could out bench press the taller and heavier opponent, he would qualify for the "shorter and stronger" type of the four types of fighters you will ever be up against. After Lewis’ rematch I suspect we will see a winner of that match fight Tyson. Either opponent will be bigger and heavier, but what can they bench?

Future criteria will be an addition to boxing training utilizing iron body, iron palm, unstoppable punch/inner iron forearm training and the grab bag/iron claw. The iron claw will keep the fist tighter without getting tired and wimping out. This will make for great machine gun jabs with focused power. Gloves are bulky. Only the boxer fist can be used. The first objective is to use the unstoppable punch to break the nose. This makes the other fighter breath through the mouth. Don’t forget that breathing through the mouth leaves the jaw hinge vulnerable. An uppercut could cause the teeth to bite the tongue. When the angle and timing are right, a temple shot will knock the fighter out if the other shots did not. Either temple is a dim mak spot good anytime 24/7. Speed and power are fine but accuracy is final. Accuracy is based on faith and courage under fire and being on the side of good and not evil.

In closing…use your chi to study new things. I recommend all of us learning a software product like Microsoft’s Front Page and the basics of HTML. Think of future entrepreneurs who will succeed with cyber-classes…on-line classes. Nice supplement to where you train and film.

Take Care And Trust God!
