* Do not be fooled by martial art sites that want to sell you just the "package" of herbs or merely the pre-made jows in liquid, without divulging each and every separate ingredient in the formula. Each "package" should contain a list of each ingredient's Mandarin / Pin Yin name as well as Pharmaceutical name, plus the weight of each ingredient!

Not only is it the law to do so, you deserve this information so that you can tell your Western and Eastern doctors of exact ingredients and measures. This is so that contraindications and side effects can be studied as well. Remember, we pass these ancient herbal lists on to you for historical purposes and do not recommend that you need to try them. It is merely a glimpse of the past for us martial artists to gain somewhat of an understanding as to why the monks may have thought a certain formula was beneficial for a certain thing. Also, any ingredient that is now illegal or impossible to get, needs to be substituted by a safe ingredient by a licensed Chinese herbalist.

Again, do not waste your time and money getting formulas that are not completely broken down. Check out my almost 60 international major martial art magazine feature articles on herbs going back to 1986, when I was a columnist for "Chinese Traditions" in Karate/Kung Fu Illustrated! I was the first to share Five Elder formulas with the mainstream public. My vast personal collection of priceless formulas prepared and in the original monk's writing were displayed for the world to see in my 7 tape Panther Dim Mak series! I was the first person world wide to author a book in the Library of Congress entitled "Authentic Five Elder Martial Arts Formulas." My co-author was Zev Rosenberg who is head of the herb department at San Diego's well known Pacific College Of Chinese Medicine. Zev is also an accomplished acupuncturist. The book sold out immediately with Ryukyu Distributor/Publishers. They are the largest martial book source in America. We have recently revamped this book and soon it will be in second print available world wide. Eight "other" of my best selling martial arts books have also sold out and are in the process of being revamped.

For those of you interested, Lohon Williams and Lohon Keen are helping me to compile the world's largest full color Chinese herbal Materia Medica ever produced. We will list 1500 separate ingredients. Each ingredient will be broken down and indexed. We are in the process of breaking down and putting into a series of books, over 1000 classical five elder formulas passed down to me. Actually I have three or four times that many when you count the variations, but for now my goal is to let out the biggest materia medica in full color and at least 25 formulas completely broken down in full color per book.

I have been studying herbs since 1965! It is a fascinating subject, but beware of buying packaged formulas without a guarantee of full breakdowns with weights!

This is my 17th year of study in the Five Elder Arts. Prior to that my training goes back formally on a full time basis back to Tai Chi Chuan in 1973. I have been a student of herbs since 1965 and The Urantia Book since 1968. Look for us to constantly update this list as I get the digital photos taken and research further the individual original ideogram (Chinese written character in the original formula). It is one thing to have authentic formulas, however it is something else to actually be able to purchase the ingredients whole and not ground up so that you cannot identify each separate ingredient. This makes you dependent on others instead of being able to learn and put the formulas together yourselves, dealing directly with the herb supply company, cutting out the middleman holding back information you need to do it yourself.
