Dear Jung Shee James Patrick Lacy / 18 Daoist Palms: 9-8-99 Let me preface my letter by expressing both gratitude and appreciation for your help and advice regarding the health inquires made concerning my associates Steven and holly. it now remains up to them to follow up. My role was simply to put them on a path that would prove productive for their respective maladies. In our last conversation by phone i had mentioned my run-in, or should i say run-over by a jeep on my person. When addressing class this past Tuesday i tried to explain to fellow disciples and students that the kung fu extends well beyond the martial aspects. i know and understand that combat is the predicating factor, and that survival from acts of sudden violence is really what we train for. i know that the hours spent on shifting and footwork were well spent. When confronted by this sudden act of violence (I really don't know what else to call a runaway truck speeding up your ass), relaxation and muscle memory gave me the chance to survive. In my attempt to redirect this energy, I did sustain minor injuries. Hell, if I hadn't shifted properly, I'm road kill! My left arm, elbow, forearm and left knee were extremely swollen. Small price for unarmed combat, don't you agree? So, as I explained in class; I will never be full contact champion of the world, or the ultimate fighting champion, but I was assaulted, I responded, and I won my life back because of the kung fu that extends beyond the mats into the everyday! Which brings me to the whole point of this story. People need to know who the good guys are. They're the one's that give of themselves both in time and effort. Your kung fu extends beyond the mats. Your dit da jow for example...I mean let's give the credit when due! I used some from my October '96 stash. The swelling, which was enormous, had subsided in two days! Print it! I'll testify to it! As with my own sifu, who always puts others before himself, who does not brag or boast, but, is capable of extraordinary feats, you have always extended kung fu fellowship to those you meet, and you honor both the arts and yourself. I remain, Ron Bongiardina, disciple Siu lam Temple, Lau Wai Wing Chun Tong Master Alan Goldberg, Dai Sifu. ![]() Phone: (619) 766 - 9256 Mew Hing Productions 42499 Old Hwy. 80 P.O.
