This page will tell a little about Five Elder Monk Mew Hing's 18 Daoist Palms System.

The 18 Daoist Palms System is a complete system or PAI. Its Chinese name is Sup Bat Mo Jung Pai.
 

My definition of a complete system is a martial art that contains all of the following:

1) Striking Methods (Da) - Includes: Striking, punching, pushing, and pressing.
2) Kicking Methods (Ti) - Includes: Kicks, sweeps, trips, and steps.
3) Wrestling Methods (Shuai) - Includes: Wrestling, throws, grappling, unbalancing, ground fighting, uprooting.
4) Seizing Methods (Chin Na) - Includes: Seizing, controlling, grabbing, locking, and levering.
5) Development of the Body (Li).
6) Development of Power (Jing).
7) Development of Internal Energy (Chi).
8) Development of the Mind (Yi).
9) Development of the Spirit. (Shen)

All leading to Mastering of Self

Here are some of the things a student will learn by practicing this high level kung fu system:

  • Stances, Strikes, Kicks, Blocks.
  • One and Two Person Empty Hand Forms.
  • One and Two Person Weapons Forms.
  • Safe sparring techniques.
  • Proper falling, breakfalls and ground work.
  • Making, gathering and using Training Equipment .
  • Use of and preparation of Herbs for both Internal and External Use.
  • Stationary and Moving Martial Meditations for developing Faith, Courage and Energy.
  • Anatomy and locations of striking points, nerve points and meridians.
  • Conditioning methods for Mind and Body.
  • Yielding, neutralizing, leading, and controlling.
  • Sticking, adhering, redirecting, and sensitivity training.
  • Leg maneuvers, jamming, rooting, uprooting, trips, sweeps, throws, take downs, and mow downs.
  • Seizing, grabs, releases, trapping, derailing, joint locks, grappling, leverages, and submission holds.
  • Chi Kung exercises, chi enhancement, transporting chi, moving chi, chi projection.
  • Centerline theory, gate theory, gap theory, range theory (long, medium, short), circle theory (large, medium, small).
  • Alignment, positioning, angulation, diagonal movement, and methods for opening, closing, maintaining and bridging the gap.
  • Working with all body types, sizes and strength levels.
  • Proper and safe methods to develop the Iron Palm, Iron Claw, Iron Fist, Iron Shirt (Golden Bell), and Iron Arm.
  • Developing the Unstoppable Punch.
  • Proper body alignment, center of gravity, body kinematics, Jing force training, and synergistic movements for proper power.
  • Distraction techniques, proper use of feints, jabs, pokes and misdirection (both physical and mental).
  • Relaxation techniques, stress reduction, centering, using dynamic tension, visualization techniques, breathing techniques.
  • Defensive and offensive techniques and strategies, using combinations, follow through, and finishing moves.
  • Multiple opponent techniques, use of peripheral vision and awareness.
  • Developing fast automatic and spontaneous martial reactions
  • Devastating your opponent in 1 to 4 moves.
  • Methods for becoming a good teacher or instructor.
  • Martial Arts History and philosophy.
  • Proper Ethics, Universal Respect of other systems and individuals, tolerance of other peoples beliefs and ideals.
  • Applying Kung Fu to all aspects of ones life.
These are just SOME of the methods, techniques, skills, philosophies, and ideals that a practitioner of Mew Hing's 18 Daoist Palms System will develop! Don't get discouraged or overwhelmed by the amount of information contained in this system. You will learn at your own pace and skill level.
